NORTH SHORE
Fondita Miguel
A new fast-casual spot from the George Trois Group and Aboyer Brasserie, located in Downtown Winnetka. Fondita Miguel is named after Chef Miguel Escobar who focuses on using high quality ingredients and his traditional family recipes with a modern twist. The delicious menu includes tacos, tortas, burritos, along with classic Mexican sides, desserts and drinks.
La Casa de Isaac and Moishe’s

La Cocinita
The popular food truck (which is available for catering and local events) and downtown Evanston spot serves contemporary Venezuelan-inspired Latin American street food. Their specialities include homemade arepas (Venezuelan cornmeal patties) and cachapas for brunch (sweet corn pancakes). They also have a presence in New Orleans, their other favorite city.
Taco Diablo
A go-to place for tacos and margaritas. They offer several types of tacos like chicken mole, duck and pork chorizo, crispy fish, spicy shrimp, carne asada and more. The tacos come three to an order but you can mix and match with family-style beans and rice for the table. The dark cantina-like space had a large bar and plenty of space for a group dinner with friends.
The Otherdoor
The creative and rustic fast-casual restaurant, from the same team behind Everett Farms, Inovasi, and The Old Mill Lounge, makes killer tacos and burritos with everything from carnitas and brisket to Impossible chorizo and Duck Confit. A great place to grab lunch or dinner. Hosting a party? Check out their catering options and taco cart rental service.
Tortazo
Celebrity chef Rick Bayless’s only spot in the suburbs. They offer tacos, quesadillas and Mexican salads but we recommend going with the tortas. The Crispy Chicken Milanesa and Cubana are fantastic. Enjoy it with a classic margarita and churro for dessert. Tortazo also has locations in Chicago and New York.
Zentli
Enjoy delicious Mexican street food from the team behind popular Skokie restaurant, Libertad (above). The art-filled space is the perfect setting for their creative menu that includes a wide variety of tasty tacos, sides, and drinks. They also offer great vegan and vegetarian options like their oyster mushroom “tinga” taco.

Mago Grill
A modern Mexican restaurant with three locations across the suburbs that are always packed. They offer a variety of latin-inspired Mexican dishes, table side guacamole and refreshing cocktails like their El Jefe margarita and mezcal old fashioned.

The Geneva taqueria has been recognized as one of the best places for tacos for years and sets the standard for Mexican dining in the Chicagoland area. Bien Trucha is Mexican slang for “on top of one’s game” which is exactly what you get each time you visit and enjoy their outstanding array of tacos. Be sure to try the famous Bien Trucha taco and one of their signature cocktails. They also offer year round outdoor pods which make a great dining experience.
Quiubo
The Naperville outpost from the Bien Trucha Group offers a sleeker, more spacious option than its popular sibling in Geneva. Similar to both spots above, they offer amazing tacos and craft cocktails. You can also order their Lil Donkey Burritos from this location.
