Fleur + Form Founder shares her favorite spots around Barrington

Tell us about yourself:

I'm Promiti, Founder and Designer of Fleur + Form, which is a floral design studio specializing in high-end, bloom-forward designs. I grew up in Toronto and after a few years in downtown Chicago, I moved to Barrington with my husband and 2 year old daughter.

What inspired you to start Fleur + Form?

I’ve always loved creating art with flowers and elevating spaces, but Fleur + Form came to me pretty serendipitously. I often struggled to find high-end, artful florals in the Chicagoland area that felt truly unique. So, I did a lot of learning and set out to create a brand that pushed the boundaries of traditional design—one that felt intentional, luxurious, and unlike anything else. My goal is to create statement pieces that elevate, inspire and make you feel really, really special.

What town do you live in?

Barrington

What are your favorite restaurants in the suburbs?

My husband and I loved going out to eat, so I have quite a few favorites nearby! I'll start with Giostra - everything I've had there has been great, including the Agnolotti di Zucca and Fusilloni. If you're looking for a lighter dish, I love the Seven Spice Ahi appetizer at Shakou - make sure you upgrade to black rice! I'd actually be embarrassed if someone looked at my Doordash history and saw how many times I've ordered it. A new favorite is The Greggory. Lived up to the hype and more! The ambiance, service and food are amazing. I loved the Rigatoni alla Vodka and the side order of Sweet Potatoes! Lastly, the Hot Honey pizza at Neoteca - add some chili flakes on top and it's a burst of flavor in every bite.

Any favorite places to grab a drink?

Gigi's is one of my favorites - innovative drinks and lively atmosphere. Hampton Social in the Arboretum is a go-to for daytime drinks - can't go wrong with some oysters and bubbly. I'll also be adding The Greggory to my list. They had some really interesting choices and I especially liked their take on a Blue Cheese Martini. You can see that we end up at the South Barrington Arboretum a lot!

What is your go-to coffee spot?

You can't beat the quality and service at Ambrosia Patisserie. The baked goods are unmatched and the fresh whipped cream for your hot drinks are chef's kiss. I always get their ham & swiss croissant with a fresh coffee.

Any favorite events you like to attend?

I love the car show and market days during the summer. It gives people an excuse to get out in the sun and to try local products.

What stores or services do you always recommend?

KED at Home offers beautiful items in their shop - I could spend hours in there. French n.75 Maison is another one for really cool finds for gifting and home.

Any favorite weekend getaways?

We often get on a plane to go somewhere fun, but sometimes with a toddler, you need something less involved. Our go-to drivable destinations are Lake Geneva and Galena. For Lake Geneva, the Apothecary Bar inside the Maxwell House is so fun. For Galena, I love the quaint and cosy environment at Fritz and Frites Bistro.

Why do you think the Chicago suburbs are a great place to live?

I was always a city girl, so the transition to the burbs was a little tough. But then I started to REALLY love the space and neighborly feel of Barrington. The hustle and bustle gets tiring and with kids, you just can't beat the safety and how family-oriented everything is. There's also still a lot for us to do as a couple and fun spots to get a drink!
